Standard Logistics’ Biometric Data Retention and Destruction Policy

Standard Logistics (“the Company”), through its technology partner Samsara Inc., uses an in-cab camera system (the “System”) that may collect and process videos of drivers of Company vehicles. That processing produces data that might be considered a scan of facial geometry (“Face Data”). This Biometric Data Retention and Destruction Policy describes the Company’s retention schedules and destruction guidelines for Face Data.

Purpose and Use of Face Data

The Face Data may be used by Standard Logistics and its technology partner, Samsara Inc., for the purpose of enhancing driver and public safety. The System analyzes the Face Data to detect and generate alerts for specific unsafe driving behaviors, including but not limited to:

· Drowsiness or driver fatigue

  • · Use of a handheld mobile device
  • · Failure to use a seatbelt
  • · Other forms of distracted driving

Alerts and associated video data generated by the System will be reviewed by authorized Standard Logistics personnel and will be used for driver coaching, safety training, and, in appropriate cases, disciplinary action.

Data Retention and Destruction

Any collected Face Data will be permanently and securely destroyed within one year from the related driver’s most recent interaction with the Company, or when the initial purpose for collection has been satisfied, whichever occurs first.  To select a method for destroying the Face Data, the Company, Samsara, and its subcontractors will take into consideration (i) available technology, (ii) the nature of the data, and (iii) the nature of the systems in which the Face Data are located.
